Unilever, one of the world's largest consumer goods companies, has signed an agreement to acquire the global TIGI professional hair product business from Bruno, Anthony and Guy Mascolo for a cash consideration of $411.5 million. In addition, further payments related to future growth may be made contingent upon meeting certain thresholds.

TIGI's major brands include Bed Head®, Catwalk® and S-Factor®. TIGI has operations in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Australia, and had worldwide sales of approximately $250 million in 2008, with almost half coming from the United States. Unilever's other consumer brands include Dove, Ben & Jerry's, Lipton, SlimFast, Knorr, Clear and many others.
