L'Oréal, the world's leading beauty company, has signed an agreement to acquire the Essie cosmetics business, the iconic nail brand and ultimate nail color authority, from Essie Weingarten and Max Sortino.

Essie Cosmetics, Ltd., was founded in 1981 by Essie Weingarten, who still serves as the company's president today. Based in Astoria, NY, the company offers a growing line of nail colors, treatments, accessories, spa products and lip glosses. Ms. Weingarten and Max Sortino, CEO of Essie, will continue to play a pivotal role under a multi-year agreement.

Essie's shareholders were advised exclusively by Michel Dyens & Co. in this transaction.
